Our free-to-attend Mental Health & Inclusive Photography Evenings are designed to create a calm, welcoming space where creativity and wellbeing come together. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or mentally exhausted. These evenings offer a gentle pause — a chance to slow down, connect with others and express yourself through the art of photography.

Whether you are a complete beginner or someone with experience behind the lens, our sessions are open to everyone. There is no pressure to produce perfect images or to have technical knowledge. Instead, we focus on the process rather than the outcome. Photography becomes a tool for mindfulness — encouraging you to notice light, textures, emotions, and the small details that often go unseen.

Each evening is carefully structured to support both creativity and mental wellbeing. We begin with a relaxed introduction, allowing participants to settle in and feel comfortable. This is followed by guided photography activities that encourage exploration and self-expression. These might include themed prompts, storytelling through images, or simply capturing moments that reflect how you feel.

One of the most valuable aspects of these evenings is the sense of community they foster. Participants have the opportunity to share their work (if they wish) and talk about their experiences in a supportive, non-judgmental environment. Listening to others and being heard can be incredibly powerful, helping to reduce feelings of isolation and build meaningful connections.

Photography has long been recognised as a therapeutic activity. It encourages mindfulness by grounding you in the present moment, helping to quiet racing thoughts and reduce stress. Looking through a lens can shift perspective — both literally and emotionally — allowing you to see beauty, meaning, and possibility in everyday surroundings. Our evenings harness these benefits in a way that is accessible, enjoyable, and inclusive.

We also incorporate gentle reflection exercises throughout the session. These are designed to help you explore your thoughts and emotions in a safe and creative way. There is no expectation to share anything personal — participation is always at your own pace and comfort level.

Our Mental Health Photography Evenings are not therapy sessions, but they are a space where wellbeing is prioritised. They are about giving yourself time, being creative without pressure, and connecting with others who understand the importance of mental health.

By the end of the evening, many participants report feeling calmer, more grounded, and inspired. Some discover a new passion for photography, while others simply appreciate the opportunity to take a break from daily stresses.

If you’re looking for a supportive, creative outlet that nurtures your mental wellbeing, we would love to welcome you. Come as you are, bring your curiosity, and allow yourself the space to pause, create, and connect..
